Like Ombachi said the other day, Kenya has always relied on individual talent and passion rather than investing in sports infrastructure. And unfortunately for us, sports science/technology has advanced to the point we can no longer get by with the old approach. We send guys who started training seriously with very modest equipment in their 20s, to compete against prodigies who have been training in top notch facilities from the age of 8. Honestly what do you expect?
The kind of change Kenyan athletics requires will take decades to bear fruit. Even if you put Humphrey Khayange to be sports CS you won't see much of a difference because our problems are largely institutional ones which one man alone can't change.
