in the 60s to 80s, the US govt turned a blind eye to corrupt dictators they installed and supported through the CIA and who committed atrocities to their own people , as long as the dictators were aligned to the US rather than USSR.
I'm not saying this is the case here, but the US govt only cares about itself, not about the welfare of other citizens.

Hehe I previously worked in the "developmental" space and actually participated in a few projects in Liberia and let me just say, money runs the World.

I may not have a problem with anyone addressing any gathering. The only issue is that the man has a poor grasp of how these people work, is easily excitable, and will do anything that elevates his stature. Remember how he quickly okayed GMOs without even engaging in wider consultations? He did that to appease some American firm that has been sponsoring GMO field studies in the country. On a different note, if we are going to talk about fake papers, we ought to expand the definition to nab more people.

We expect younger people to be less naive and less maneuverable by foreign interests. Kibaki made a sharp turn to the East, without creating enemies in the West, and that changed our fortunes a great deal. Uhuru maintained the same course. This man's naivety could run deeper than we suspect, and it will cost us in the long run. It may also be that he went for fake papers to cover up for this naivety.
