Kenya wash wash history 2010- 2024

Okiya

Elder Lister
In 2010 during Kibaki's time, Kenya was put on a list of high risk countries due to delays of enacting laws to tackle criminal financial activity and a failure to track money laundering

In 2014- Kenya was removed from the list.

In 2023 Recently we dispatched a delegation to France to engage with Financial Action Task Force.

But in 2024, Kenya has been added to the FATF grey list which means it will be subjected to stricter due diligence dealing with financial transactions.

A simple google search will show that Grey Listed countries are those which have made a commitment to tackle the vice, FBI have been training and offering resources to the DCI for a while now. wash wash has always been there prior to KK administration.

But it was a downgrade, in spite thereof.

We have whitelisted, grey listed for those with blemishes but working on them and then we have blacklisted country, how mighty white of them.

Consider the grey list an AA meeting, with less anonymity and dirty money as the vice. Making a commitment to working through the problem doesn't seem to be a downgrade...perhaps for the plug, but not the victim
