Voice of farmers from Mt Kenya

I empathize with them, as a farmer I agree farming is more less a hobby. The govt might be moping money from the economy but i fail to understand how. that will increase our forex reserves. It just limits our buying power as a nation but to a select group of very wealthy Kenyans.

Farming is losing meaning, manufacturing discouraged from the very same taxes and various costly permits. There goes our forex and opportunities for FDI. China/Singapore developed by having very friendly tax policies and a willing govt to uplift lives of it's people, not drag them in the mud at point of adversity. It's a shame that Kenya once donated to Singapore at their lowest point, we were the bigger brother while under the leadership of the late President Moi (MHRIP) but for now we can't even compare notes. How will we develop when we are making sure it's impossible to start any meaningful industries? We are just poor managers. Our fiscal and monetary policies don't marry. Our parliamentarians are very sharp but for some reason since independence they've thrown out any concern for our country.

The plan is to get rid of small-scale farmers. You will have to buy processed food you don't know where from. It will get to the point people will hide their food crop farms like they now hide marijuana farms

Farmers and people in the informal sector clapped, when it was claimed that 'watu wa painslip' don't want to support the affordable housing program by the government, through 3% deduction, now the shoe is in the other foot, tushirikiane wote tulipe ushuru, kwani kulipa ushuru ni kujitegemea.
