projection is a defense mechanism people subconsciously employ in order to cope with difficult feelings or emotions like loosing an election. Psychological projection involves projecting undesirable feelings or emotions onto other people, rather than admitting to or dealing with the unwanted feelings.

I would call it obstinate stubbornness hinging on vendetta of doing things a different way to spite the establishment and make a point.

The right way of Governance remains the right way even if done by your sworn enemy. No need to resort to untried and untested ways so as to degrade the Predecessor.
It will burn your fingers and embarrass you to U-turn as is happening on a daily basis.
