Tvet colleges told to stop business courses

The government will, in the next three years, phase out business courses in technical and vocational education and training (Tvet) institutions in favour of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (Stem) courses.
This comes as President William Ruto announced plans to hire 3,000 tutors by March to offer quality education in Tvet institutions to meet the current market demands.
Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu urged the principals of the national polytechnics, Tvet institutions and teacher training colleges to promote Stem courses. In a circular to the principals dated December 23, 2022, he explained the government’s plan to phase out business courses within three years.

Business courses can never be faced out at diploma levels !

He's right, Tvets should be specialized to offer the best, no point in offering business courses, we have schools for that, a school like Kist, railway institute or rift valley training institute should focus on technical courses and leave business studies to schools equipped to offer such courses.
Nowadays colleges are just conveyor belts , this has to stop

Good proposition. Technical skills are the base on which development can take place. TVETs should specialize in technical skills and those business skills should be assimilated into the course itself.

Business management,
transport and logistics etc. examples in RTI yet it's core focus is engineering and tech.
I would think transport is technical...while computer studies, business management/entrepreneurship, marketing should be subsidiary subjects for those taking tech courses and who would end up in business.

My take: Unless we are training for export, we do not have sufficient opportunities for graduates in STEM courses.
Do you know how many engineers are tarmacking out here?
