Well, as an ardent fan of all things nyama, offals, bone soup et al, I realized I couldn't do without my beloved gathubu and luckily, the Mrs came to the rescue.
Living near Maasai land means plenty of fresh meat and reasonably prices since the afternoon prices at the Kiserian abattoir get to 350/- a kilo of beef and slightly above that for lamb and goat.
So of late in a bid to ditch a carby breakfast, I have opted for beef broth which, to be honest is greatness tupu
Simple to make too. You just get bones with a bit of meat attached..some onions, garlic, ginger and zucchini to make a nice bowl of edible, healthy soup. You can always add other stuff such as carrots, eggplants and my favourite - a huge potato to enhance flavour and make the soup thicken.
One can partake with your favourite sidedish, mine being ugali imelala ikiwa bado baridi.
