28 killed, dozens wounded as killer herdsmen open fire inside Catholic Church in Ondo
Gunmen opened fire on worshippers at a Catholic church in southwestern Nigeria on Sunday and also detonated explosives, a state lawmaker said. Dozens were feared dead including children.

Ogunmolasuyi Oluwole said the attackers targeted the St. Francis Catholic Church in Ondo state just as the worshippers gathered on Pentecost Sunday.

Among the dead were many children, said Oluwole, who visited the scene and also the hospital where many of the wounded were being treated.

While much of Nigeria has struggled with security issues including Islamic extremism, Ondo is widely known as one of Nigeria's most peaceful states.

The Pan Yoruba Socio-Political Group, Afenifere, has said that the Owo attack in which church worshippers were murdered at St Francis Catholic Church, was a direct attack on Yoruba race.

It’s National organising secretary, Abagun Kole Omololu said that ” the massacre in Owo Chatholic church is a direct attack on Yoruba land.

“It is directed at Gov Rotimi Akeredolu for his unfliching support for security in Yoruba land by championing the Amatekun security outfits, his strigent upholding of the open gracing law and for his ” big mouth” about Southern co-operation for equity and justice in Nigeria.

“We will not succumb into terrorist threath or attack, they will not be allowed to bring down our civilisation.

“We will hunt the killers down. Citizen should not take law into their hands by attacking innocent northerners, only the terrorists, who are mostly foreign Fulani, should be fished out and finish off by the security forces.

“This attack is to course confussion and course war into our land. We should not play into their hands.

Omololu said that “This evil is condemned in the strongest term. We commensorate with the government and people of Ondo state, the catholic church, the Olowo of owo and the people of Owo

I support the governor, Amani haiji Bali kwa ncha ya upanga, the only language extremists believe is more violence than they can mete. They become coy form MUHURI, their human rights arm, the same 'human rights' they don't give to their targets.
Thanks to H.E Muigai, our SF/ATPU arm has made the jihadist know that they don't have a monopoly on violence.
Lastly Kudos to our boys on the frontline who have lost their lives, comrades/brothers in the line of duty and their families to their absence and sacrifice to the great Republic of Kenya. Some of us still believe in them even if most have lost faith in them, while they are working on ensuring that there are no IED attacks in down Kenya especially our commercial cities of Nairobi and Mombasa.
