The best thing about the view point at Iten is probably seeing lakes Baringo and Bogoria in their entirety on a clear day.
Lovely place.
 
Sadly I agree with you, charcoal burning especially during this time is going on unabated.
Huko kerio valley, baringo and nearby areas there's the invasive tree prosopis/mathenge and locals are being encouraged to burn charcoal to control the weedy tree. Niliona hapo karibu marigat on marigat-kabarnet Road they have even built a power plant to generate electricity from burning the tree biomass in an effort to control the invasive weed.
