Kenya's Ambassador to Qatar Patrick Paddy Ahenda is dead.

Confirming his demise on Monday, April 4, his family noted that the ambassador passed away while receiving treatment at a hospital in Doha, Qatar.

He had suffered a stroke when he was taken ill.




Prior to his appointment to Qatar, Ahenda had served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Kabondo Kasipul between 2005 and 2007 after the death of his predecessor Peter Owidi.

Was is reported to the embassy? and did they register/registered by their agents with the embassy upon arrival? Or it's assumed that the Kenyan embassy in Qatar is omnipotent?
Citizens responsibility for their actions is often downplayed by the activists types.

Those are domestic workers, wengi ata hawajui how to apply for a passport and it is done for them by the recruitment agencies...It was a matter of enforcing regulations to those agencies that would/will really help, a crackdown even on the recruitment agencies will help. You have seen the families report mistreatment to the embassy...what happens when they get those reports? that is the question that needs to be answered

I do not know about these things happen but if I was to be involved,I would work with immigration and airlines to ensure that a record of every Kenyan arriving in Qatar is taken.

How now? Or you mean ministry of foreign affairs?

Still the aspects of citizens responsibility is missing, you mean the agencies go looking for them or they go looking for the agencies? Let's not excuse the don't care attitude that is common with Kenyans, other nationalities ensure that they report to their embassies/ministry of foreign affairs before leaving.
On the issue of action taken by embassy, let's operate on the maxim of he who accuses must substantiate.

You are talking about people who do not even know that it is illegal to hand over your passport to third parties, or are too intimidated or scared to miss out on an opportunity if they don't

All very well indeed @Clemens. People have a responsibility to register with their embassies for variety of reasons least of them being if your country has to evacuate it’s citizens due to an emergency eg. Coup d’e tat, lawlessness, natural disaster or even a pandemic.

However there is one fact we Kenyans should all frankly contend with. Kenyans being the unique and exclusive people that we are never leave behind our DNA of slothness, rudeness, carelessness and a general don’t care attitude at work place.

People tell of harrowing stories of their experiences at Kenyan Embassies abroad. A few years ago London used to be very notorious for such.
You would visit the place and find long queues of people with no one to serve them. The Embassy staff would go for tea break and lunch break lasting hours.
The Staff would also be critical of Kenyans in Britain and even show open favouritism to white people giving them preference over indigenous Kenyans.
Hand in hand with this is the fact that even the very Kenyans visiting their embassies are rude and ill-mannered to the Embassies Staff.
Such facts do not inspire Kenyans to visit or even seek advise from their Consulates abroad which, by the way, is very regrettable.

That can be due to the mode of staffing; the embassies in Europe are mostly staffed by children of the high and mighty in Kenya, the most important countries goes to the top cream, the lesser countries to the petty bourgeoisie, they are all there due to their pedigree not degrees, and they know you can do nothing to them. I am sure the late has one or several of his kids as an attaché somewhere in a small insignificant country e.g Honduras.
