A 61 one year old arrested after conning recruits 1.4million shillings in Ruiru.
A con woman purporting to be in a position to influence the ongoing countrywide recruitment of Kenya Prisons constables has been arrested in Ruiru, Kiambu county after she issued fake recruitment letters to four victims who parted with ksh 1.4 million.
According to officers based at Ruiru police station, the distressed victims identified as Nancy Nyawira, Moses Gitau John Kebaso and Mercy Wambui reported to the police that while within Ruiru town they received calling letters to have their relatives attend training at Ruiru Prisons Staff Training College from one Benson Nganga who allegedly works at Prisons Headquarters.
In the process, Nancy gave out ksh 300,000, Moses gave out 350,000, Mercy gave out 350,000 and John gave out 400,000 all totalling to Kshs 1,400,000.
The victims joy of securing the calling letters would however turn out to be short-lived upon close scrutiny where they realised that the calling letters were fake.
