Are we looking at just the traders who are already in business albeit at a slower pace or the unemployed masses all over the country?

This is the sad bit about the histler survivor narrative. And even if we go to the experts to explain the bottom up model,even they are divided. What about us who are no experts whatsoever?

Which takes me to my own favourite surprise regarding the hustler survivor: How he managed to convince real hustlers that he is part of and fighting for their hustle has remained a big amazing surprise issue to me....

Most people don't care who is running the system but whether the system is working. The "dynasties" benefit from the status quo so they don't like change.
Kibaki brought policies that uplifted the hustler despite the exclusivity of some of his minions . We are still enjoying his legacy.

Since it's in KE, it's just a catch phrase to me.
HOW to implement it if it were true,
1. change policies to encourage small business owners and business people at large. Example Rwanda.
2.block some imports and force them to be produced in KE (how? Ref. to point 1)
3. Kill corruption
4. Increase wages

The more the industries and production done in KE the more the jobs for people.
For point 1,2, 4 to work point 3 has to be strictly adhered to.

In other words, if you kill corruption, this country will work. All these catch phrases will not be needed.
