In Summary
  • Speaking with Jeff Koinange on JKlive on Wednesday night, Kivutha said Kenyans were tired of being mobilized based on their ethnic groupings and needed a leader to steer the country into an economic powerhouse
  • Kivutha also expressed optimism that he has what it takes to beat either Raila and Ruto for Uhuru's succession in 2022
Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana now says that in a tussle for the presidency, he would beat DP William Ruto and Raila Odinga hands down.
Speaking with Jeff Koinange on JKlive on Wednesday night, Kivutha said Kenyans were tired of being mobilized based on their ethnic groupings.
“I think yes. We have this problem of negative ethnicity & it is something that is fueled by us, the politicians…I can feel that Kenyans are getting tired of being mobilized on an ethnic basis…” He said.
Kivutha outlined one of the many qualifications that endear him to the people as his success in pulling off people-centered development in Makueni where he is in charge.
He said that it was possible to replicate the same success at the National level and ensure Kenya competes with first world countries at a global level.
Kivutha who has previously said he would be on the ballot in 2022 said he was open to forming an alliance with like-minded people.

He also dismissed claims that he appears too nice and too soft to ascend to a top position that requires fortitude and grit.
“Maybe on the surface, I look very nice but when real things need to be done we have to do them,” He explained in part.

At the same interview, he addressed his fallout with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka saying they had agreed to walk different paths despite being in the same political party.
“I think we agreed that each one of us would walk their path and therefore although technically I’m in Wiper I do not really practice my work through Wiper,” he added.
