Suicide Squad is a not a remake of the original one that appeared on our screens a few years ago. It's a sequel of sorts, but if you missed the first one, you saved some braincells and hopefully your time was better spent.
This movie follows the same basic principle. Incarcerated criminals with abilities are hired as black-ops teams to go on missions in return for time stricken off their time to serve in prison.
Of the original suicide squad, Harley Quinn returns played by the spectacular Margot Robbie. Captain Boomerang and Flagg are also there but their contributions aren't much compared to Harley's.
On this mission we have a new team of individuals sent to destroy a new extraterrestrial weapon in the hands of a despot before it can be unleashed.
The movie's pacing is very much improved over Its predecessors. From the first scene having the team recruited to landing on the beach, you can tell they have kicked up the showmanship of the show. The movie also has more gore in terms of decapitations and killings. F-bombs are dropped all over, so not a movie for your younger ones to watch with you.
For you WWE fans, John Cena puts in a very good as Peacemaker and has great chemistry opposite his teammate Bloodsport played by Idris Elba.
It's an enjoyable movie. DC Comics did well on this one. Hopefully this is the turning point for them in terms of their cinematic universe.
Catch this one for a good 2hr watch.
