Art by Leonard Ngure

The picture is detailed and shows an expertise in painting.
BUT it can not do well in an art contest. Most masterpieces are simple but rich in detail. Use of color shades to bring out a theme. Ask yourself this question. Would you like to hang those paintings on your sitting room wall? Compare with masterpieces like Mona Lisa, Starry Night, etc and you will notice a clear difference.

He should probably attend an arts class

I get what you are saying but art is art and sometimes, just like literature, it bends the rules that exist or even ignores them altogether. At the end of the day, it just might be a matter of personal taste since I wouldn't mind his works especially for the kind of nostalgia they evoke in me as a Kenyan.
Just look at this

Very talented guy. Unfortunately such talent doesn't pay in 3rd world. That's why they keep painting politicians and hoping the guys buy the paintings. Was it comedian Churchill who said a few years back that he will not be buying paintings of him anymore because he receives like 2 every week.

This image is an oxymoron unto itself. A minimalist living space juxtaposed against a crowded painting. Heck No!
