another boring thread on corruption

wrongturn

Elder Lister
rewind back to history.

WALUKE case, what happened to it? I remember Kenyans were very happy, finally someone big is being held to account, they were held for 3 months as some Kenyans started saying watu wao wanaonewa, they paid bail, till to date appeal haijeisha bado. Our god given mps passed a law that said a person must exhaust all avenues of appeal in order to loose a state job or being barred from vying for any elective post

Sirisia MP John Waluke and his business partner Grace Wakhungu have been released on Sh10 million and Sh20 million cash bail respectively after spending three months in jail for theft.

Justice John Onyiego gave the two corruption convicts an alternative of depositing bonds of Sh20 million and Sh30 million, respectively, with sureties of similar amounts.

The two convicts were imprisoned on June 22, this year by the Anti-Corruption Court after being found guilty of fraud and illegal acquisition of Sh297 million through shady deals at the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB).

Lest we forget.

Ni Matiang'i au ni National Land Commission ilipeana hiyo land?

How exactly is an underfunded Judiciary supposed to hear and close cases on record time?

Results come at a cost buanaa, ambieni Kenyatta apatie Koome pesa then we can complain over cases remaining in court for years.

I wish they were telling us we had 20 cases we concluded 8 then the money ran out.

They do that every year when they present their budget to Treasury, it should be Kenyatta explaining why his government refuses to provide the money needed.

I guess you know government departments cannot be given all the items in their wish list. We are not an oil producing country you know.

The cases we are referring to here are high-profile cases like Obando, Matiangui et al. Not those of Wanjiku stealing a chicken from Wafula.

They are not the only cases taking forever to conclude, ordinary Kenyans too have cases lying in court beyond the recommended timelines because the resources available to the judiciary do not match the caseload,

If you are loaded you can keep your case in court even longer with application after application to compete with the pile of new cases, by the time they are heard and determined years have gone by

This is the problem. Mambo ya mpesa ni excuse.

It is not a scarcity problem, if it was the serious upgrades we have witnessed in the security sector wouldnt have been possible. It is a matter of priority and clearly justice isn't one of them.

If we are to get justice in a timely fashion we must pay for it, you cannot demand first class services on a shoestring budget.
