We all have those clothes we put on when indoors or within the compound, but never outside. They may have been deemed inappropriate for outside use for one reason or the other; maybe a faded colour, a tear or wear somewhere, loose threads here and there, became too small or big, or some other reason. As we continue to use them away from the public, they move further from inappropriate, but we barely notice, because the changes happen in small infinitesimal (kasaman hehe) steps. This is the same way we never notice children or parents growing up and down, respectively. When other outsiders see you in such clothes, they are likely to be confused, and you may not understand their reactions.
The next time you notice visitors become uneasy unexpectedly, it could be the ‘internal’ clothes someone is wearing, which may be way past inappropriate, but no one notices because they are used to seeing them that way.
