On the queue, several other patients were waiting to be attended to too as Halima’s grew worse.
It was shockingly discovered later that, all this time, the laboratory attendants on duty and other nurses in the facility were locked in one of the rooms celebrating the birthday of one of their colleagues.
Laikipia County Health CEC Rose Maitai has confirmed knowledge of the incident and said disciplinary action will be taken.
“Unfortunately, it’s true. Disciplinary action has been taken including interdiction of some,” she told K24 TV.
Laikipia Governor Ndiritu Muriithi has also said that investigation into the matter has begun and that he will issue a statement once the investigation is complete.

I had the misfortune of having to seek treatment from this hospital sometime back in 2018... Let me just say I got the help needed after going to see their customer service person...apparently I 'knew' my rights hawakutaka fujo.

When doctors went on strike demanding for improvements in the health sector, they were laughed out of town. Politicians repeated to their brain dead supporters how doctors were greed demanding for millions in salaries. Haya ndio matokeo.
Grieving families are bound to blame anything in sight for their plight. However, they truth of the matter is that we fucked up by devolving health.

The whole management should be made to resign and those who were criminally negligent be charged for manslaughter.
But firing one nurse will not change the rotten culture of that hospital. They will be very professional for a month or two then go back to their old ways.
We sacrificed accountability a long time ago. Wacha tuvune sasa.

Sometimes it calls for personal responsibility. As a human you should play your part and leave the rest that you can't! I feel these nurses and whomever should be afraid of poetic justice later in life.

As one who has once faced similar accusations (story was even prominently aired on Citizen), I'd take such with a bowl of salt.

the disciplinary decisions will not bring the dead back to life. Its completely inhuman when someone is celebrating their life at the expense of others who are fighting for theirs.
