Each time the runners of the night return home, another breed of night runners take over the village paths
These ones are clothed. They leave home very early, when it is still too dangerous to venture out
These secondary school day scholars are as thirsty for education, as every other student
They cover long distances on foot at times being rained on, to acquire this elusive education
In the evening another treacherous journey home, awaits them
Their schools, the sub-county schools, formerly harambee schools admit upto 70% of the one million avarage that sit for KCPE each year, but everyone's attention is in the few top schools, which boast excess teachers and up to standard facilities
Although CDF has contributed a great deal in improving their conditions, some of these schools lack even infrastructure basic for learning, like classrooms, labs, library etc
In most cases, they do not have enough teachers, and at times the watchman doubles up as the CRE teacher
They will sit the same exam with those at Alliance, etc and still be ranked
