We had the Jackson's five and we may have many more, but I will not talk about them because I know very little about them
In Kenya we have the Mushrooms band. The band was created in 1972 by five musical siblings from Kaloleni Giriama. They were led by the eldest, Teddy Kalanda Harrison who apart from heading the band is also an astute composer, saxophonist and a vocalist
He is the composer of the evergreen Jambo Bwana, Kenya's unofficial tourism anthem.
The other siblings were/are the late Denis Kalume (drums/vocals) the late George Ziro (played everything and sang), Billy Saro (bassist/vocalist) and John Katana (Keyboard/vocals)
From Tanzania we had the three siblings of Simba Wanyika, George, Wilson and William Kalelezi, popularly known as Kinyonga brothers
In Republic of Congo, we had Kosmo, Pierre and Michel Moutouari, in DRC, we had the Soki Vangu and Soki Diaanzenza of Bella Bella, Nico, Dechaud and cousin Tino Baroza of African Jazz/African Fiesta, Franco and Bavon and many more
One of the largest, from this country of musical gods is that of three brothers and two of their children. The patriarch was Fariala Wa Niembo, also called Frank Lassan, who was a first generation musician, in the days of Wendo , also called "tango ya ba wendo"
His sibling John Bokasa, a guitarist, featured fir African Fiesta National and his other brother Lola sang fir OKJ, for a whole 25 years between 1967 and 1992, when he died
His two children Elvis and Lola, are equally musicians with different bands in Nairobi
The mega jackpot of these musical families is that of Dewayon and his siblings, numbering eight as captured by my great friend Prof Larry Gumbe
The eight musical siblings were, Ondo Ondo(Ondo Mpokuo Lokonda) eldest brother who introduced Dewayon and Bokelo to music and Dewayon(Paul Ebengo) elder to Bokelo, taught Franco the guitar
The others are Jean Bokelo, Jean José Lohota, Porthos(Mpia Mongongo) deadly rythm guitarist of Conga and Grand Piza. Twin brother of Mbo Mayau of Grand Piza,
Alberto Bosaba and Makengo Mavuzi Roy, great composer of Grand Piza
Aren't they eight siblings? This is the largest musical family
Might you know of any other. Please don't come here enumerating ohangla and other such acrobats
Great morning
