That's the language of engineering.
Think of how to model a randomly distributed load on a cantilever. Example an earthquake or a dam seepage.
Those designs aren't random, there's a mathematical computation behind it.

Excel is a great tool but has so many shortcomings for engineering applications. As an example, try working Fourier series or Laplace transforms with excel and you won't go far. Or basic things like matrices.

If you are a power user you can find your around it. But it can get one so far without having to learn programming

Why not just use Matlab for example. Programming excel to achieve such solutions is like reinventing the wheel.
