President Kenyatta during the 57th Jamhuri day celebrations at the Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi, did not mention anything to do with the ongoing doctor's strike.
In his address, the president said that Kenya now has 826 infectious ICU beds up from 8 in March this year. He didn't touch on the plights of the doctors.
Doctors in the country announced that they will resume their strike as from December 7th and the exercise is now on its 7th day.
They demand a health insurance, increase of salaries, good quality PPEs as they are attending to persons who have contacted Covid-19.
Close to 35 Healthcare workers have succumbed to Covid-19 as they get infected while on duty.
The latest Doctor who has succumb is a 28-year-old Dr. Stephen Mogusu who according to his colleagues had not been paid for 5 months. His medical bill accumulated to almost a million.
According to media outlets, the government had since cleared his medical bills.
ODM leader Raila Odinga had last week said that Doctors took an oath to save lives and that they should get to work as their issues were being sort out. This brought a lot of debate online
