No....religion is practical...e.g. there's the parable o the three talents and that of an ant...one encourages investment the other saving for a rainy day....
If it were practical then Africa would be first world Continent and the European Nations wouldn't have abandoned it after 500 years of backwardness...the dark ages!

The citizens are not responsible for killing those Men but rather those who were in a position to do so. The priests aka men of the cloth on the other hand did nothing to rebuke the act which directly affected their flock economically and socially just because give the other cheek is their motto.
Do you know how the developed nations in Europe have managed to have firm foundations and why they have a strong focus on the community as opposed to the individual? They were all formed by men who had very strong faith in religion. They were not fundamentalists like the Arab because that is what made the Arab world inward looking and retrogressive.
Yes, After they emerged from the Dark Ages 500 years ago. We are currently in our Dark ages as well and probably we can continue copying them and forever remain a step behind
