BBI Report: IEBC commissioners to be vetted afresh

Building Bridges Initiative report has recommended fresh vetting of IEBC commissioners.

The new proposal would remove the current commissioners if Parliament will not be pleased by their work.

The proposal, according to analysts suggest that the country needs to get new IEBC commissioners before 2022.

The BBI report propose that the President will appoint a vetting committee, which shall consist of five members.

President Kenyatta appointed former commissioners into diplomatic jobs following theirs resignation after the IEBC was under siege immediately after the presidential repeat election.

During his political rallies, Deputy President William Ruto said that, 'if they want, they can appoint Oburu Odinga as IEBC chairman'.

His statement sparked a lot of controversy, political analyst were saying that was a desperate move. He showed how desperate and tensed he was for for the 2022 presidential elections.

The BBI report was received by President Kenyatta and Raila Odinga yesterday in Kisii county and it will be launched on Monday at the Bomas of Kenya
