I am generally for freedom of the press, but what if foreign or hostile elements decide to manipulate the press to manipulate public sentiment to achieve their own goals? Assuming an educated, trained and empowered citizenry, the populace would be trusted to separate BS from facts. But what have we seen repeatedly over the years? So, it's not as black or white as you would want to believe.
