Before changing houses, you should consider important information and or tips before going into a new home.
1. House hunt on a Sunday
House hunting on a weekday or on a Saturday can lead to many regrets, the reason being you can't tell whether there are several Churches around the houses, unless you are ready to be woken up by several guitar tunes and drums at 5 am on your resting day. Staying around a Church has many disadvantages as compared to advantages. You are not ready to be judged as you pass by, or be the topic of discussion by just sitting at home. House hunting on a Sunday will tell the type of the environment you'll move into.
2. Water
Caretakers are notorious for lying to their tenants about the availability of water in their flats. Ensure you get into one occupied house and inquire about the water they use.
Inquire about the amount they charge, and whether there will be an alternative in case of shortage.
3. Electricity
Know how the electricity in your new house will be paid, whether pre-paid or post-paid. Ensure the house you'll be moving into is well connected and sealed.
4. Security
Again, do enough research. Ask about the security in the area, inquire whether your new house has a watchman or watch lady. If there are security lights around your home and its proximity.
5. Rent
Cut your coat according to your size. Know your budget and work with it. Moving into a house that you won't afford three months into your stay is a waste, try and get a house that you will afford. Remember, many house owners demand for a house deposit plus a one month rent before occupation.
6. Fare to work
Now that you know your budget, ensure that your balance sheet is in order. You wouldn't want to use three-quarters of your income on fare and rent. The goal is to save and not look rich. Using three buses to work is not necessary, find somewhere you can use on bus and save the rest.
