Vuyo mokoena

Abba

Elder Lister
When this guy died he gave a big blow to south african music. I remember I was driving when the radio announced it in May 2008.

He went to grave with one of the biggest secret " That he was a Zimbabwean and not south african. "

For yee that find no opportunities in Kenya and have been frustrated with systemic failures of lack of opportunities , go out there and create experience of your own. Don't shy away with the belief that "east of west home is best ". If Vuyo said "east or west" , he wouldn't have fully experienced his potential.

Carry your culture and tradition as an african everywhere you go. Should you want to settle , find your own person to identify yourself with.

You will experience setbacks like racist but you might make money, even here home there is racism in form of tribalism , nepotism and all, yet there are no enough jobs . Just don't forget where you came from.

True, years ago I stood by a colleague who wanted to wed a sweetheart from a different tribe despite his family being jaded about it.
Suffice to say he never regretted his decision, nor his 'foreign' wife and their chirpy daughter.

as a parent the only tribe I would be disappointed if my daughter wed into is the "poor we will make by our own" tribe

In the name of tribal status we often bear the brunt of selfish and unsavory characters actions, I believe every man or woman ought to be judged on merit.

You have put it across very well. Sometimes even our families can hold you back and you have to go out there to make your mark in the world
And create experiences . A certain lister here was discouraging people from exploring because of something called "FEAR" but you have to conquer fear if you have to succeed .

Families are composed of individuals with unique view points, which over the years are molded into the family image. Unfortunately it's family that often holds you back to their preferred image.
