Vehicles in Ethiopia

These converted municipal buses are pretty common, housing bakeries, shops, and restaurants.

With the highest auto import duties in the world, Ethiopians tend take care of their vehicles enough to last decades. The Toyota Land Cruiser 60-series from the '80's is quite common. The UAZ-469 jeep from the Soviet Union isn't prone to a long life though..

Aside from the ubiquitous Japanese and Korean brands, the other major influences in this sector are Italian and Eastern Bloc, reflecting periods of external influence in Ethiopia's history. An IFA W 50 cargo truck from East Germany and a Fiat 682 tanker from Italy.

I'll end the thread with a Premier Padmini from India and a sharp VW Beetle convertible. Addis is crawling with Bugs.
