Uhuru has BANNED scrap metal trade

About time; but maybe with this decree the price of scrap metal just went up.
The industry is super lucrative.
Missing road signs, open storm water drains and uncovered manholes.
We've become too brazen.
There's that video of a guy on a boda lifting part of the hoarding under the express way in broad daylight....with zero qualms.
Any move to tame vandals (except those of the graffiti kind) is very welcome.
Mungu asaidie sisi.

This is a good move. Every chop shop should be licensed and inspected randomly kushika hawa watu wa kuiba magari. Similarly, every person who delivers scrap should do it through a local collection point and details taken ili mtu akileta chuma ya reli anajulikana ni nani.

What happened to his order of shoot to kill
We have a very inept president and a dysfunctional joke of a government. Ask yourself what would have happened if this was Magufuli? It is the inspector General of police who would have gone home. Perhaps even the minister himself. But kwetu hapa raisi anasimamisha industry nzima inayoajiri mamilioni ili asikasirishe watu wawili.

Which two people? I sympathize with the job losses that this ban will cause but the sutuation now is not sustainable. People are stealing moving vehicles for scrap metal. Wanjinga wengine walingoa component moja ya exhaust system ya my jalopy (@Introvert what is that catalyst called?).

That sector needs to be regulated. Kuna wizi mingi sana.

Umeongea ukweli mkubwa. Sasa shida zote zimeisha.

Why do you want us to mix issues? Tukubali tu there has been social and economic harm to this matter. How do you explain a "businessman" buying a kiruri sufuria stolen from a cucu who was watering her goat in it and they go on to crumple it and weigh it as the prized aluminium scrap?
Are dealers ready to introduce ethics and self-regulate?

Just go to Nakuru and the meter gauge railway branch line from Menengai to Solai has all but been eaten up.

Police on Tuesday recovered 400 rail bars and 13 sleepers worth Sh2million during an attempted robbery North of Rongai Police Station on the Solai Railway line, Nakuru County.
The suspects fled the scene upon seeing the police and left behind a lorry, Mitsubishi KAA 237Q and a motorcycle that had no plates.
Nakuru Railways OCPD Said Shungi warned the public against vandalising the railway saying anyone found culpable will face the full force of the law.

“Your days are numbered… anyone with information regarding the incident should report to Rongai Police station to assist with the investigations,” he said.
On his part, Kenya Railways Managing Director Philip Mainga noted that the Corporation had beefed up security along all railway lines following increased cases of vandalism.

The corporation also held a consultative workshop with security agents from Rift Valley, Nyanza and Western regions early this week.
This he said will ensure increased surveillance Metre Gauge Railway corridor and discourage thieves from accessing the corridors.
Mainga discouraged the public from engaging in such noting that such actions compromise the safety of railway operations.

You are all right. All other businesses are bad. Everyone who deals in scrap metal is a thief. We should reintroduce the guillotine.
