I still remember vividly that not so long ago, some of us over here constantly sounded the clarion call beseeching Folks against electing Jambas into Office.
We bent over backwards and sternly warned by exhaustedly cataloguing all that would go wrong but Folks turned deaf ears and would have none of it.
As a matter of fact, some people turned against us and accused us of being jealous and disillusioned about their impending victory.
Funny enough, whatever we warned off without getting heeded has come to pass.
Anyway, as harm has already visited us, let’s let the bygone be bygones.
After all, “A fox must be chased out first, after that the hen might be warned against wandering into the bush” (Chinua Achebe)
Nevertheless and not withstanding a few things ought to be said:
The illegitimate abductions and forced disappearances, the looting and pillaging, the arrogance of the ruling class and the incompetence of this Government are straight out of the tinpot rulebook and must be condemned in the strongest terms possible.
The icing on the cake, and where I think this Government is taking the biscuit must be the latest episodes of Jambas’ tribemates and ardent cheerleaders having the audacity to publicly proclaim that Jambas must win the next polls by hook or by crook, come whatever may, devil may care.
One by one they are crawling out of the woodworks to utter the most detestable things about people critical of Jambas.
They have promised death and destruction to those even daring portray Jambas in bad light.
Jambas himself feeling buoyed by his Court Jesters (Ichungwa, Sudi, Murkomeno, Shollei etc) is now talking of putting in coffins those daring to caricature him.
This mischief should concern each and everyone of us very seriously.
