What has happened is that they have seen the numbers. Most kenyans have turned away from the political elites and tribal chiefs of old, and for the first time in the coming elections, they want to elect their own candidates who truly represent them, not appointed by the elites. Kenya Kwisha pulled a number on the people who believed in them. On the other hand Gen Z, brought up on the foundation Kibaki laid, have rejected the KANU orphans and want a functioning govt and economy and an end to grand corruption.

The political 'dynasties' are trying to do everything to preserve their hold on the nation, but they have forgotten one cannot fight against the natural order of things. The old gives way to the new. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.
