Elder Lister
Transport CS James Macharia says that the Sh. 1.9 billion bridge was only a temporary measure and would be dismantled and set up in another area like Lamu where it would serve other Kenyans.

The Sh. 210 billion Mombasa Gate Bridge will be the permanent solution to the challenges faced at the Likoni Ferry crossing channel for many years. It's construction will start in December 2021 and it will take four years to complete.

The bridge will be 70 metres high to allow for ships to pass underneath.
