Subaru Legacy 2013- Turbo vs non-Turbo Version

Wadau, a friend is in need of a Legacy and is torn between the turbo and non-turbo.
Who has experience or knowledge to offer solid advice?

The thing with a turbocharged vehicle is it all depends on how heavy your foot is on the pedal, the mods done to the vehicle and whether it is mechanically sound.

Keep the revs under 4K RPMs and you won't feel any difference with a naturally aspirated engine. Put your foot down, turbo spools up and sucks in more air, more fuel is injected and the result is more power.

Of course, more power means less effort, which in some cases results in less consumption. That however is in highway conditions. Stop-start while engaging the turbo, hehehehe

Also, the size of engine and type of fuel used should be factored. There are Peugeot 207s with a 1.2 litre turbodiesel engine developing as much power as a 1.8 litre NA vehicle, but is still very economical to run.

Most of these turbocharged Subs are 2 litre petrol engines, and depending on the mods done to the vehicle, can develop serious amounts of power, which of course means poor consumption for the economically minded. You can't compare that with a Sylphy, which you haven't specified engine capacity (1.5, 1.8, 2.0?) which obviously will consume less.
 
Tumeandika maneno mengi sijui kama umepata jibu. The crux is, if your friend does a lot of kilometres on the highway, a turbo vehicle would be better. More power, better when overtaking and a generally responsive vehicle at highway speeds. Consumption may be higher depending on his driving habits.

There is also the little matter of a turbo being a complex thing that can break down easily. Na asiingie kwa shimo za ku-tune gari. Kama anapenda pesa zake, mwambie aifananishe na kuhanda slay queen. Hatawahi tosheka and it will be a money pit, unless he's thinking of doing Masinga TT and Kiamburing on the weekends.

The friend is looking for the 2500cc machine. Main thing is a powerful reliable tool to commute daily from thika to machakos, and back. So a reliable means to get to work and back home fastest.

Excellent. That turbo 2.5 will serve him well. Hata asiangalie kwingine, unless ni Forrester.
