Speaker Benson Mutura sworn in as acting Nairobi county governor

Nairobi county assembly speaker Benson Mutura has been sworn in as acting Nairobi county governor after Mike Sonko was impeached by the Senate.

Last week, swearing in of Benson Mutura as acting Governor of Nairobi was postponed to Monday, December 21st following delays.

According to the constitution, swearing in of persons into public office should be between 10am and 2pm time frame. Cause of delay is yet to be established.

Mike Sonko was on December 18th impeached. The Senate upheld Nairobi county's decision to impeach him over gross misconduct, embazlement of county funds and corruption.
