The government led by William Ruto is a chest-thumping government, full of pride, arrogance and a don’t care attitude. It started with the likes of the then Roads CS Kipchumba Murkomen telling us how his shoes are worth Ksh, 200, 000, his belt 50,000, not to mention his watch which he claimed to be worth ksh 900, 000 in an interview with a Kenyan celebrity. Maringo ya pesa nane. The then Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi, sold to the farmers a substandard fertilizer, full of stones and soil-Incompetence.
As if that was not enough, the government would force the finance bill on us, despite warnings by stakeholders, including bankers, insurers, manufactures and private sector employers. This led to the Gen-Z demos to force the president to concede. Later on, we have a controversial medical cover system, the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) and Social Health Authority (SHA) that cost us a whopping 104 billion shillings. The former Deputy president is on record on a national TV, saying upgrading of NHIF would only cost 800 Million. Private hospitals have rejected this model of health insurance causing patients to pay from their pockets, thus creating a poor, helpless and ailing population. Now, government claims no student will be allowed to school in January if they are not registered with SHA.
Not until the US government accused Adani of massive corruption and money laundering claims, our president wanted to enter into a $2 billion for upgrading our airport (JKIA) and power generating Company KETTRACO. When citizens rejected the deal and even demonstrated on the street, the government gave a blind eye. In fact, the president called the people “Stupid, and naive” saying majority had not stepped foot in an airport. It took a foreign government to save us.
The most recent one is the government’s attempt to vaccinate animals without any consultation with stakeholders. Despite calls to stop the vaccination even from the Kenya Veterinary Association, the president has vowed to vaccinate over 22 million cows and over a 50 million sheep and goats at a cost of over 3.2 billion. Modern dictatorship and theft of public funds is what this government tops at. They are even calling us Demonic...Very sad state
. It seems like we Kenyans are on our own.
