In February 1992 a group of women made their way into Uhuru park to stage a hunger strike.. hoping that the government of the day will heed to their cry and release their sons.
On the fifth day the government did the unfathomable..police carrying batons ,guns invaded the area.
They teargassed ,harassed and clobbered the women.
Some were as old as 70.

koigi wa wamwere mother was among them

That curse didn't hurt him! He lived almost 30 years since curse and ruled 10 more years!
I don't think there was going to be any effect on Moi. Why Moi came down so hard on voices of dissent? He was afraid. Fear that people were courting civil disobedience, which would result in the death of many women and children and innocent men, the death of the same women who were clamoring for their dissident husbands to be released.

people were looking for some latitude in the political space and true Moi was afraid that opening up such space would open room for disorder. we finally opened up the space but look where the country is...to paraphrase Moi: nguruwe alijikaanga kwa mafuta yake. The line between absolute freedoms and anarchy is a thin one.

You sound like Rush Limbaugh.

So we wouldn't be where we are if mothers had let Moi arrest, torture, imprison and kill their sons?

those hurt by moi should have expressed their anger when he lived ,face to face ,hii ya kungonja akufe una sema moi oooh alitukosea ni upuss ! he did seek forgiveness while retiring !
Let's for a minute and suspend reality my friend. Assume you were wronged by him. Would you have gone to him and demand an explanation?

Back to reality. I do not expect an answer.

According to the Kaguthis, Sunkulis and Betts this treatment of mothers protesting for their sons to be released after they were detained without trial was a show of strength, that his foremost mission was the country's stability, they even told us he was very very patient and was a good listener.

These photos and these ones show us the real Moi

1. A man who thought only he was right, everyone else was wrong
2. Only his interests mattered, everyone else's interests came last after he is full
3. He was a blood thirsty man, anyone could be sacrificed as long as they stood in his way
