The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced that Mbagathi Road will be temporarily closed on Saturday, November 6.
The closure is meant to allow for the construction of a footbridge.
A statement from
KeNHA advised motorists to use alternative routes since traffic will be disrupted as workers erect a footbridge at the T-Mall roundabout for two days.
KeNHA alerted motorists that the road will resume normal traffic flow on Monday, November 8, at midnight. Further, the roads authority stated that the construction will be in two phases.
Motorists will, however, be given appropriate directions to help ease traffic snarl-ups on the busy road which serves Lang'ata, Madaraka, and Rongai estates and their environs.
Distribution of traffic on the proposed T-Mall flyover project
Upon completion, the envisioned T-Mall flyover will allow vehicles headed to Ongata Rongai and Magadi to pass over an elevated road to the Shell Petrol Station next to the Wilson Airport. Vehicles headed to Mbagathi Road, South C and Wilson Airport on the other hand will use the underpass.
The Project, aimed at terminating traffic jams at the busy Langata Rd, was conceptualized under the Public-Private Partnership between the Government of Kenya and its Spanish counterpart.
The roads authority told motorists that they will be given appropriate directions to help ease traffic.
