Petroleum CS Munyes rules out any fuel price deduction, blames National Treasury for failing to release Ksh.24 billion meant for price stabilization. fuel prices rose to the highest levels in history with a price of super petrol shooting by Ksh.7.58 per litre..
Keep it here this might get interesting

Brent oil hit $82 today, which is a significant price as far as bei is concerned. Ikikosa kurudi chini kutoka hapo, just expect oil to easily retail at ksh 200 with the current tax regime. But ata VAT ikitolewa, itacost 180. Tough times ahead

How does releasing 24 billion help in price stabilization? Help me understand....
the 24 billion goes to the sellers of the products thus ensuring they sell at a lower price. the sellers sell at the normal price of say 130ksh, but the government pays/buys off 7ksh so the buyers end up paying 123ksh at the pump station.

short of the long,

you pay indirectly to ensure you don't pay directly. (so now that we aren't paying indirectly-the 24 billion, we are paying directly-increased price)
