Once it fades, kanjo and traffic cops will be waiting for you to even get an inch of your vehicle tyres in this section. Kind of like those roundabouts in Kikuyu town. Physically you can't see them but dare you cut across them.
 
There is always a bigger picture. They are trying to create business for car parks, which is not a bad thing. Come to think of it, there should not be cars parked along streets while people and vehicles struggle to squeeze through the little available space. If all street parking were to be eliminated, walking around the city would be less stressful. Actually, the said cycling lanes should be walking lanes for pedestrians. Pushing a wheelchair, walking with kids, or carrying a small load on city streets is always a nightmare.
