13 heavily-overloaded trucks intercepted along Thika-Garissa road
The operation which was led by John Gichohi saw the drivers of the trucks flee to avoid arrests, and the police are still trying to identify the owners of the vehicles since their number plates have been removed.

Police officers attached to Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA) have intercepted 13 heavily overloaded trucks plying the Thika-Garissa Highway.
The operation which was led by John Gichohi saw the drivers of the trucks flee to avoid arrests, and the police are still trying to identify the owners of the vehicles since their number plates have been removed.
According to Gichohi, the vehicles were also operating unlawfully without insurance stickers, thus putting the lives of other road users into a big risk.
On average, a truck should be loaded with at most 26 tonnes, but the intercepted vehicles were ferrying sand of at least 45 tonnes per truck.
