One of my former neighbor was widowed a few months back. She had just clocked forty when the ordeal befall her. This was her third marriage and had one son with this man. The husband succumbed to a road accident having lived together for three years. The late was a luhya man from Khayega ,who had previously been in a different marriage. He was promiscuous and often got in to fights with the wife. It's at his burial when seven children came forward with their different mothers to witness their father's burial as the Luhya culture demands.
This woman has four children from different fathers and immediately after she had completed the days set for grieving , she came back to the city.
She was desperately hunting for a man to marry her or at least keep her company. Her greatest fear was failing to find a man who would take her and the four sons in. She joined dating websites for the widowed and divorced and a community dubbed ,'Single and ready to Mingle' .
She worked as a bartender in a high end bar in the suburbs of Nairobi. The company had however offered her three months paid leave to mourn her husband's sudden death.
She spent most of her resources at the time moving from one mall to the other hopeful of finding a divorced or widowed white fellow as the word on the streets had it that only them would marry a widow and the fruit of her womb.
Her expectation did not bear fruit in that regard. At the end of her leave days she went back to work.
Her social life was majorly at her place of work as most of the employees had worked there for more than two years. They were fond of each other to some extent and she was bold and talkative.
To anyone willing to listen, she would lament of how lonely she felt and there was no way she'd remain without a man.
Uplifting her two fallen soldiers by suspending them in a tight bra became a necessary ritual before stepping out of her house and would occasionally rush to the bathrooms to enhance her beauty with a ton of products. Her dressing was not only revealing but provocative. She never refrained letting out her emotions and would vent on anyone available. On several occasions she would be heard begging her male colleagues for sex. Some thought she was overwhelmed by grief hence her kind of language and behaviour, while the majority snubbed her.
On the fourth month after being widowed, she met a former boyfriend who was revelling at her place of work.
He gave her an eye and the long lost, faded love was rekindled in a span of less than two hours. This man is from Mumias and they dated twelve years back but went separate ways due to infidelity. He is three years younger than the lady and was also divorced and had twelve children from seven women. All of his children lived with his aging parents in the village as the culture dictates the children to stay in the father's home.
They revived their relationship and in no time she fell head over heels for this guy.
She's now on a pedestal and the guy is rushing the relationship's pace, worshiping her like a newly acquired idol. Equally, the lady is overly available and honestly, this flock of a feather deserve each other and their love should be sealed for eternity.
