Its a great big shame on each African that we have NOT been able to get rid of Christian/English names.
Almost all small minded African fools associat rejecting Christian names with rejecting Christianity.
There isn't even any meaningful national/continental discussion going on about the issue.
Most African motherfvckers are perfectly conditioned and are content and proude of their english names.
Makes me sick...

If I was president I would give an executive order that laws be made to strictly implement the following.
1. Change the order of the way names are recoded in the national GOK issued ID.
i.e
Jane Wanjiku Kamau becomes Wanjiku Kamau Jane. etc.
2. Very Strictly require ALL schools and learning institutions to do the same, possibly even reducing the "first name" to an initial
i.e
Jane Wanjiku Kamau becomes Wanjiku Kamau J
Requirer the same for private community records from chama membas, foremans list of todays watu wa Njengo etc to cover any list on names of nyeuthis that is made by said nyeuthis.
Its important to note that the reason stuff as important as getting rid of english first names for Nyeuthi as a way of taking steps to reclaim nyeuthi identity HAS NOT BEEN BEEN DONE is clear evidence of just how completely the entire population and its entire leadership is conditioned to favour muzungu things.
There isn't even a singly nationally audible voice of leaders of NGO's or activists out there pushing a "reclaim nyeuthi identity by doing a,b,c" Agenda
Very very many Kenyans would viciously object to above laws because of how completely conditioned they are. The fools consider english names to be the better names. And thats what our children learn right from birth.
Its very possible some muzungu individuals from US/EU could turn up here and start an NGO to lead nyeuthis in a program to reclaim nyeuthi identity.

Never had one, my dad was not some kawaida ignorant fool like the millions of nyeuthi parents that give their kids english names.
Why do you think nationalists like Jaramogi and Kenyatta did not come up with names like:
MacDonald Raila Odinga or Peterson Uhuru Kenyatta ?

I remember in primary and high school I was always told to give out my real names in class, everyone was surprised when I didn't have any Christian name, I only have two names, so nikisema, nilikuwa na ulizwa ya tatu expecting it to be an English name. But am seeing the current crops of parents adopting African names very well.

The situation is like... Christian/English names came with beberu.
The average kenyan christian is unable to intelligently differentiate between chritianity as a faith and the names that came with it.
When the average kenyan Christian hears anything said against names like Paul, Peter, John, Mathew etc they label you a devil worshiper.

I have a tragic true story on this. A couple of years ago I sowed a wild oat. When I was paying the maternity fee, I strongly advised the matha that the baptismal name of my offspring should be Kiiyo, Kikuyu for 'hardwork'. Guess what? After I paid the tens of thousands she went behind my back and gave the baby a very irreputable mzungu name...nimekata ties na sitaki kujua....akienda court I go back to Kiambu traditional dispute resolution mechanisms..shoka...

The vast vast majority of nyeuthis with english/Christian first names have them because their parents were in a state of being 'perfectly conditioned' by muzungu and simply did what what muzungu had said and other parents were doing and their perfectly conditioned kids have gone on to do the same.

I know some people who have gone to AG office and removed their foreign first name.
Alafu another one removed his and those of two of his kids.
This is not enough, it needs to be strictly enforced on nyeuthis by law and media information messages.
The vast majority are too ignorant to do it in meaningful numbers.
My dad gave me a first name from a northern kenya tribe.
I am known by my second name, my first name makes people think am from some place else, then they come up with stupid questions.

Most stupid brainwashed/conditioned Africans who give their kid english first names honestly don't know the value and importance of a name in a peoples identity.
This is because of the former colonialist curated education system they have gone through.
Like its very possible @Aviator honestly does not know why names of a people are so important.
This means that @Aviator is a perfectly conditioned nyeuthi that the colonialist curated education system has produced to be a good worker/consumer/conformist
I have often found myself in situation of wanting to slap such people.

Everything that can give nyeuthiz a sense of identity and pride was deliberately excluded from the education system the former colonialist curated for us. We have not even been able to change it.

What exactly does sense of identity even mean? I can identify with the name Joseph and be ok. It doesn't have to be kamau of ochieng.
And does whatever you are calling sense of identity make us more productive? I find that it just makes us tribal.
I can't think of one single benefit of having or not having an English name.
