Interesting about history of eldoret. So Uasin Gishu was named by Maasai? They seemed to have been everywhere. When reading Man Eaters of Tsavo by John Patterson, he says that the maasai were the universally feared tribe all over kenya and tanzania, especially when they were on rampage to claim cattle. However by then in the 1890s their power was waning due to drought and disease. He even got to interview the Laibon Lenana, who was a collaborator with the British.

And Lenana died young from a treatable disease but the British didn't help him so that they could take part of Maasai land.
