Mimi kwangu tuko 6. 30k in my pocket would do something meaningful to keep us fed for a few months

Am afraid not @Gio. Bail is just a conditional release from pre- trial remand. You deposit a cash amount or a title to a property as guarantee that you will appear in Court for the duration of a case. Otherwise you forfeit your bond @Gio.
It is not freedom but a taste of how it feels to be denied your liberty. Don’t celebrate yet.

It could. Those are two different stages of a trial. Bond is pegged on ensuring Court Appearance where flight risk, witness tampering and security of complainants are possibilities.
Bond is meant to give the Defendant the space and resources to prepare their defence in freedom and Liberty.

There are always chances that additional or more serious charges could be levelled on further investigations and after Bond has already been granted.
So therefore a higher fine might be accrued after court judgement.
