Honour killing?

We have a problem of children becoming wayward na wakiulizwa wanaongea vile wanataka. We had those who disappeared juzi na walipoulizwa mmoja kaseme sherehe haitaki hasira. Parents, who expect unquestioned obedience, may have problems stomaching that kind of response and go overboard with their "punishment".

How do we balance the need for discipline and the avoidance of intolerance?

hiyo sio poor upbringing by the parents? they should not be surprised when kids talk back to them coz that behavior doesn't just come up, it was nurtured from a young age ,if you want unquestioned obedience you nurture it from a young age, otherwise tutaambiwa tu sherehe haitaki hasira.

I don't know because the circumstances differ from case to case...and the temperament of the parties concerned.
All I know is that most parents would love their children to grow up obedient and well grounded leading to responsible adulthood. Truancy and immoral behaviour is punished in almost all societies but the degree and nature of punishment varies from home to home and society to society.

If there are younger kids, I would go for a non-custodial sentence....if not, a light custodial sentence with a lot of community service thrown in for good measure. This is not murder with malice aforethought....

True ,lazima mtoto wako awe rafiki yako . The child will never hind anything from you , grow with your children, have time for each child individually and as a family !

Am not talking about the immature friendship some so called 'dot com' parents have with kids....just to be clear. Parenting from my point of view means setting an example for your child in terms of manners and not sparing the rod....holding them accountable and teaching them to be responsible.....tough love.
