Alphy Migasha, the deceased.
A Nairobi gym trainer from Umoja has tragically lost his final match after an alleged confrontation with a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier who believed the trainer had been spotting more than just weights for his wife. The deceased, Alphy Migasha, reportedly crossed paths with the suspect, Nicholas Ireri, shortly after Ireri returned from deployment in Somalia - only to be deployed immediately into a very different kind of battle at home.
CCTV footage dated December 22 shows Migasha calmly seated outside a liquor joint in Umoja, minding his own business, when Ireri arrives. What begins as a brief exchange of words quickly turns into an unscheduled and extremely one-sided “fitness demonstration.” Onlookers appear stunned as Ireri overpowers Migasha before walking off, leaving behind chaos and unanswered questions.
Migasha was rushed to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital, where doctors confirmed he had sustained multiple serious injuries. Despite medical efforts, he later succumbed. As Migasha’s family makes funeral arrangements, investigators are lifting more than just dumbbells—namely evidence. The suspect remains in custody and is expected to face court soon, where the only sparring allowed will be legal arguments.
