Friday morning whine

The new government is yet to be felt. Given the economic stagnation which has been there in the past, the government should have acted with urgency to reverse course.
There is no evidence of any major economic changes so far. There is no directional shift towards the right course. Two months may not be enough to do much but they are enough to make significant policy changes.
Anyway, let us continue tightening belt. Hopefully the belt wouldn't slice our waists into two.

Mine is a genuine question.
After Kibaki took over after Moi and his tenure began in January, 2003.. How long did it take for the new administration to be felt? All I know is that I did enjoy the first year of the free primary education but apart from Kenyans being named the most optimistic people in the World who later got disillusioned.. Just how long does it take to feel tangible changes, realistically speaking?

but from the list below some have been done , others are still WIP, one has been dropped. We are at day 58.

I think it just depends with policies being made, like now, if uda wanted they can call for parliamentary session and do away with things like inflation tax, they've the majority.
Yesterday they had a cabinet meeting and high taxes were not on the agenda.,though they discussed other relevant things.
Ya kibaki siwes kumbuka unless @Meria atusimulie

The word is offer. So kwetu ka hakuna naivas tuzidi kununua 180+.
And btw, the slight drop of the cost of unga can only be attributed to the maize harvest that's going on. Na ka inacost ivi at this moment of the yr, it means unga may cost more than 270 next yr April

But if they manage lending to informal sector, they'll have hit a gold mine which banks have struggled or have been afraid to lend to . It has the potential of forcing banks to relook at their lending policies and products or perish.

If the government allows sufficient imports as well as managing mastore vizuri, we can maintain it below 150.
Shinda ni gugula.
Olisikia wapi?

But they are harvesting a lot of maize in North Rift so you can expect cheaper unga in three weeks.
Of course we will give praise to Nabii for the decline, just like we bashed Uhunye for the increase.

Kenyan politicians are very smart. They are aware wanjiku only uses the price of unga as barometer of how well the government is performing. When the people complain that the cost of living is high, reduce the price of unga and they keep quiet. Other items like rent, interest rates, electricity, fuel, school items, other food items besides unga etc will increase with little or no complaints.
