Majority of mtumba that comes to Africa would be in dump sites in Europe. Second hand clothes are first sorted and the good ones are reused in western Europe. After the good ones are left in Western Europe, containers with mtumba are then transported to Eastern Europe for second round of sorting. Then the ones that cannot be used in Eastern Europe are shipped to Africa.
Since the export chain is so complicated, it makes it difficult to take responsibility for the environmental damage by the time they reach Africa.
