The three CRBS available in Kenya will from midnight be able to list their customers if they default loans.
The ban by CBK which was scheduled from April 1 to September 30, 2020 ends tonight.
The CRB listing suspension was implemented after it was predicted that the pandemic should affect the economy. Which it did.
From midnight, customers who will have defaulted loans will be blacklisted with the available CRBs in Kenya, unless CBK governor Patrick Njoroge extends the ban.
Once an individual is blacklisted, they will not be able to get loans from Banks, Saccos, mobile loan app and other lending companies available in Kenya.
There credit score will also be affected which means they won’t be able to borrow large amount of money in future.
CBK governor should extend the suspension of CRB listing since so many Kenyans are still jobless, businesses have been affected by the pandemic and no one knows whether they’ll have their source of likelihood tomorrow.
We are all waiting for the big announcement from CBK
