Today, Commissioner Honourable Philemon Mwaisaka addressed the residents of Taita-Taveta County, highlighting unfulfilled promises from the President of Kenya.
He raised concerns about the commitment to allocate 50% of the revenue collected from National Parks in Taita-Taveta back to the county. The question looms: how long does it take for the President to fulfill such promises?
Having served in public service, the Commissioner noted that promises made by the President should be acted upon immediately. He urged county leaders to seek answers about the status of these promises.
The Commissioner further addressed the K.W.S training center in Taita-Taveta that stands as a beacon of hope for local youth. The president made a promise that when recruitment happens, a specific number of officers would come from our county. The question remains: why hasn’t this promise been fulfilled? It’s time for accountability and clarity on this crucial issue for our community.
He emphasized the need for genuine commitments rather than empty promises. The Commissioner called on the President to fulfill these pledges for the benefit of Taita-Taveta residents.

Another pressing issue is the stalled 90km fence project spanning Kamtonga, Mgeno, Kasighau, and Bachuma. Why is this project stuck in the middle of implementation? Is it because it’s in Taita-Taveta?
Lastly, the Commissioner highlighted the delays in compensating victims affected by wildlife. He urged leaders to prioritize timely compensation and address human-wildlife conflict seriously at both county and national levels.
Residents deserve accountability and action on these critical issues. It’s time for leaders to step up and ensure promises are not just words but commitments that lead to real change in Taita-Taveta County.
